Going to Milwaukee and St Louis on vacation…?
-I’m under 21, so no clubs.
-I’m looking for a good place to get vinyl
-Good tattoo/peircing places.
-nice coffee shops
-concert venues (who allow those under 21 of course)
or all and all, something fun to do.
do you locals, or even visitors, know of anything?
thanks.
You will have a great time in STL there is so much to do. You will really like the Central West End (CWE as we all call it) located off Kingshighway and Euclid. There are plenty of unique shops and coffee shops down there (Try the Coffee Cartel) there are also some really good restaurants. In CWE there is a great place to get music at West End Wax. They have a great selection and a lot of odd things. I would also head down to Delmar (or the Loop as we call it) there is Vintage Vinyl there which is one of my favorite music stores around! They have all kinds of special events and you can find some really cool things there. Can’t miss it is a very large store. Also in the Loop there is Iron Age, great place for some piercings and tattoos (I got mine there) they do wonderful work and charge pretty decent prices. Also in the loop there are several really cool “alternative” stores. Great place to stroll around. There are several great restaurants I recommend trying Fitz’s and Blueberry Hill. Blueberry Hill at night does turn into a concert venue and they do allow people under 21 to some shows you just have to check. There is also the Pageant down in the Loop, they hold concerts here all the time (it is a really neat place and there is a very cool bowling alley located next to it) Most of the shows here are 18 and up so it really just depends when you are here and if someone is playing. For the most part they have concerts almost every weekend. Go here for venues and info:

http://www.stl-music.com/
There are a lot of places that have live music, they just switch all the time from 18 and over to 21 and over. I would also check this website is has a ton of information about what is going on in the city, music, festivals and that type of thing.

You might also want to check out the Creepy Crawl they have a lot of all ages shows:
http://www.creepycrawl.com/
On a side note there are plenty of attractions here in STL. Be sure to check out the Arch that is a must! Best views of the city and a good time. There is also the STL Cardinals if you can go catch a game. The new stadium is really nice and what a better way to spend an evening. I also suggest taking a tour of the AB Brewery. You do not have to be 21, it is FREE, and it really is something cool to see. Also at the end they have FREE tastings of beverages, yes they do have things for the under 21 crowd. The zoo, science center, history museum and art museum all located in Forest Park are FREE!!! Doesn’t matter what age you are the ZOO is AWESOME! Also in Forest Park there is a place called the boathouse. You sound like the type of person that would enjoy this place. They have boats you can take on the lake, a restaurant and live music. You also sound like the type of person that would enjoy the City Museum. I am in my late 20’s and LOVE this place! It really is not a museum at all and kinds of all ages have a great time. Go to the website to check this awesome place out:

Well I hope this helps you, there are a ton of things to do here in STL for pretty cheap, you will have a great time!

Getting Ready To Go Camping
So you want to take your kids camping just like you did as a child with your parents of grandma or grandpa. Opps the camp ground they took you to is now condos on the lake .
Let assume you are new to camping but you have some experience as a child. You will need to become familiar with camping gear. If you have a friend that camps a lot you can go with them to learn the basics.
Ah go with a friend and show him he is smarter then me not a chance. For I would never hear the end of it.
The first thing you will need is some type of shelter for you and the kids.
Then you will need some thing to sleep in a sleeping bag and something to cook with. Pots and pans portable barbecue hey I know how to use that. Already you are on the road to your first camping trip.
What Gear Do I Need?
Most first timers start out with a tent. The first tent should not be to expensive but it should provide good shelter in the wind and rain. With all the models out there spend some time looking them over do not get one that requires a masters degree in engineering to set up. Stay to the basic needs as you get more experience the tent can be given to the kids as you will upgrade to a fancy one.
Remember you are camping on a budget no use in spending thousands of dollars for all the gear only to find the wife , kids, or your self hates camping. The tent should shield you from bugs sun and the rain.
More than 600 easy to do money saving tips in the 10-Minute Tech The Book.
There are bugs our here in the wilderness so be ware. The tent should have a good screen to keep the little varmints out and yet be easy for the kids to open.
The tent will be some place to sleep and store your cloths. If the weather turns bad them the kids can play or read in the tent under supervision. It is nice to sleep under the stars but you will have to get a tent sooner or later.
So choose one that has enough room for you and the family and all the gear you will want to put in the tent while you are out swimming. Your tent should cost between 100 to 200 dollars depending on the style you pick for your family
If you want to sleep in a tent or under the stars up should have some type of padding The ground is not comfortable to sleep on. You will find padded mats made from plastic with air bubbles, vinyl cover stuffed pads and the good old air mattress.
I prefer the air mattress as it also doubles for the family to float around on the lake. If you go with the air mattress remember you will need a pump to blow them up a large foot pump works best.
Sleeping bags
If you are like most people you will be camping in the summer and early fall so do not buy a sleeping bag rated for -20 weather this will just be extra money that could be use for some thing other thing you will want.
The light rectangular sleeping bag will do If you and your spouse want to sleep in the same sleeping bag just zip them together and you will have one large sleeping bag. Do not forget your pillows but if you do roll up your towels they can make not a bad pillow.
Be sure to have at least two ground tarps at least the size of the floor of your tent. Place on down on the ground then set your tent on it. The second one may be used as a shelter above the picnic table.
Campground Cooking
All of use love the smell of food cooking outside whether it is at the camp ground or in the backyard. If you barbecue a lot at home you all ready have the basic now how to camp cook. Most public camp grounds and private camp ground will have a picnic table and a cooking pit at each camp site.
Take a portable grill with you and you will feel right at home. Pick up a gas stove and a set of pots and pans and you are ready to be a camp chef, remember a coffee pot as the nearest coffee shop may be 20 or so miles away.
Depending on you level of cooking skills you will now be able to prepare meats as if you were at home.
When shopping for gear go to the local big box store as they will carry every thing you need. Some will have tents set up if so climb in ask yourself is this roomy and will every one fit in comfortable. along with all the stuff you will take with you.
If the tents are not set up mark out a piece of the floor at home with tape this will be the same size as the floor of the tent call a family meeting and get every body to lay in the tape lines you laid down is it the right size? If not reassess your needs.
That’s it…you are that much closer to have a fun camping trip for all!
Custom Vinyl Banners Grab Attention From Even the Most Unlikely Customers!
Vinyl banners in all shapes and sizes have been around for ages. Vinyl banners are one of the most popular types of signs out there. They offer the most BANG for your buck when promoting your business, event, school or organization to people all around you. Custom banners have come along way over the past few years making it more economical to print full color banners instead of plain, one color vinyl banners. It is also cheaper and easier to print larger custom banners.
Vinyl banner signs open the door to make a long lasting impression on potential customers. Pretend you are walking through a shopping center. Most shopping centers have a lot of shops, packaging centers, cafes, etc. You are not there for any specific reason just browsing through…
What would you notice first?
- The packaging store with a few small “Ship Here” signs on the door
- The coffee shop with the “Buy 1 Get 1 Free” chai tea latte special decal on their window
- The full color vinyl banner that fills the store front at the travel agency showing a cruise special they are offering to the Bahamas
I don’t know about you, but I can smell the ocean and feel the sand under my feet just looking at that full color banner in the window! The agency’s custom banner grabbed my attention even though I was far from shopping for a cruise package.
But why choose custom banners over other kinds signs?
Full color banners are offered in a many different sizes, have simple installation and require very little assembly. Vinyl banners are ideal for both indoor and outdoor use. They can be mounted to buildings, hung across streets, attached to light poles or simply mounted to the inside of a travel agents window. Plus, depending on your needs, vinyl banners can be made either single sided or double.
They are especially ideal for temporary promotions, city events, grand openings and so much more. They roll up so they are easy to store, are economical to ship, yet still offer the WOW factor!
You wouldn’t want to replace your roadside sign or backlit store front sign every time the weeks special changed or you had a sale. You do not want to have to buy a new wood sign every time you have a fundraiser in your city. And you surely don’t want your back storage room to be loaded down year round with your Holiday Specials Signs because you needed to make a BIG impression last holiday season, and can’t roll your signs up and tuck them away!
In many cases, custom banners are the most logical and economical decision. They offer limitless options to give you a BIG impact no matter what your message is or who you’re speaking to. Vinyl banners help you leave a lasting impression without spending a fortune or taking up all of your storage space.
Are all vinyl banners created the same?
Not exactly. Vinyl banners can be made on many different weights of material ranging from 10 ounce to 16 ounce. The standard weight for most uses is 13 ounces. This is the most often used banner material out there. It is a nice, heavyweight material that is ideal for indoor or outdoor use. And vinyl banners can still be made the old fashioned way on manufactured banner material with vinyl letters and graphics applied to the surface, but most sign shops today digitally print all banners whether it is one color or full color. This way everything is printed directly from the computerized file and there is less room for manual error. The other advantage is that there’s no vinyl for people to tamper with or remove to cause damage your sign.
There are several ways to finish your vinyl banner, from the way they are hemmed to the way they are to be mounted. Most sign stores offer taped hem or heat sealed edges. You can have sewn hems done or no finishing at all. No finishing is okay for one time or occasional use. Taped hem or heat sealed edges offer a finished look with long term durability. Sewn hems are needed especially for street banners and other larger exterior banners that will be exposed to more wear and tear.
Other finishing for vinyl banners can be determined by how exactly it will be used or installed. Grommets, also known as eyelets, are quite popular – they are typically applied to every 2 feet of banner so that you can install your vinyl banner with rope, zip ties, suction cups, etc. Other mounting finishes include pole pockets, sewn in rope, webbing, D rings and Wind Slits.
All serve different purposes, have different uses and range in cost, depending on the size of your custom banner.
Where do you begin to create vinyl banners for your business?
- Choose a main message – Don’t overdo it – keep it simple but BOLD!
- Figure out how far away it needs to be visible from – Will your audience be walking by, driving by, or seeing it from across the street?
- What colors do you want to go with?
- Any logos or specific graphics you would like to include?
- Where do you plan to put it?
By thinking ahead on these key points, you will have a good idea of what you are looking for. This way your sign company can design a custom business banner that will not only make your desired statement, but meet your needs for how you plan to use it. By knowing how far it needs to be visible from your sign company can design your vinyl banner to insure it will make the biggest impact possible on your audience.
Next time your potential customers are walking through your shopping center, who would you rather be?
The packaging store, the coffee shop or the travel agency?
My money is on the trip to the Caribbean…

Guidelines for Vinyl Banner Printing
Vinyl banners are outdoor signage tools that are becoming more popular with the production of high tech printers for home use. Even during digital times, these traditional marketing tools are still very popular among businesses. Vinyl is one of the best materials for banner creation because of its durability. This is just one of the main reasons why vinyl banners are never going out of style in the advertising world.
If you have a printer that can handle vinyl printing, you may be practicing with it to turn it into a business. Even if you don’t turn this craft into a thriving business, you will have so much fun creating banners for your personal use.
Here are some printing tips.
1. Placement of Design Elements
The positioning of your banner elements is crucial to making your banner look like a professional created it. As much as possible, the sides should be free of design elements. There are some reasons why the side parts of the banner should be blank. Placing elements near the sides could result in a cluttered appearance. Keep it simple by hand picking the best elements and keeping them centered on the banner.
Attachment of rope or pole pockets is also one reason why the sides of the banner should be free of any design element. When you hang your banner, the side parts will be stretched.
2. Images Should Never Look Pixelated
Blurred photos are the worst ones to use on banners because they look pixelated after printing. Instead of a clear, precise image, the viewer sees blurry dots on the banner. If an image, which is too small to begin with, is stretched over a canvass during photo editing, the resulting print will show the pixels. Or, you could be using an image that has very low resolution in the first place.
Pixelation can be prevented if you use images that are big enough to fit on the banner. If a photo image is too small, don’t try to stretch it with your editing software to make it fit on the banner. The printer resolution should also be set to “high” in order to produce a better image. For very large banners, you can go for lower resolution, as long as the resolution of the banner elements like the image is still high.
