Self Defense For Radicals $13.99 This small book packs a powerful punch. It will help you prepare emotionally and physically to fight back. Read it, read it again, and then practice. As Mickey Z. says, ‘The life you save may be your own’.”- Derrick Jensen “Mickey Z. shows you how to use your head. Literally! An invaluable guide for those moments when violence must be countered by force.”- pattrice jones, author of Aftershock: Confronting Trauma in a Violent World: A Guide for Activists and Their Allies “In this violent culture, Self Defense for Radicals belongs on every coffee table and in the glove compartment of every car driven by a man or a woman.”- Rosemarie Jackowski, peace activist, advocacy journalist, Vermont Attorney General candidate ’06 and ’08 Radicals, feminists, environmentalists. Activists for animal rights, human rights, civil rights. There are plenty of rebels and dissidents putting their asses on the line. Conversely, there’s never been a shortage of reactionaries seeking to repress such vision and passion. Learning how to fight and/or defend yourself is not the same as promoting belligerent, anti-social behavior. While talk of non-violence is understandable and the struggle for peace has never been more essential, let’s face it: The odds are that sooner or later you’re going to end up in a confrontation that may escalate into physical violence. So, why not be prepared? Self-Defense for Radicals will get you off and running in the right direction. From eye gouges to groin punches-you’ll find a powerful collection of tactics with which we can fight back. Interspersed with words of wisdom and guidance from Emma Goldman, Bruce Lee, Angela Davis, and even Patrick Swayze, this pocket-sized pamphlet will inspire readers to not only speak truth to power but also deliver a sharp elbow to power’s jutting jaw. |

You Have No Rights: Stories of America in an Age of Repression $16.95 Chilling true stories of ordinary Americans whose everyday liberties have been violated since September 11.”I’m very liberal and sometimes my friends say I’m giving them some kind of paranoid, nutty stuff, and I agree, but then the FBI show up.”—Marc Schultz, reported to the FBI for reading an article called “Weapons of Mass Stupidity: Fox News hits a new lowest common denominator” while he stood in line at a coffee shopIn West Virginia, Renee Jensen put up a yard sign saying “Mr. Bush: You’re Fired.” She’s questioned by the Secret Service. In Alabama, Lynne Gobbell put a Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker on her car. She’s fired from her job. In Vermont, Tom Treece had his high school students write essays and make posters either defending or criticizing the Iraq War. After midnight, the police entered his classroom and took photos of the student artwork. The heated debates about the Patriot Act, about extensive registration and arrest programs for immigrants, and about domestic spying by the FBI, Pentagon, and National Security Agency have all been front-page news. But less understood are the effects of ramped-up national security policies on ordinary people across the country. In this hard-to-put-down book, Matthew Rothschild, editor of The Progressive magazine, shows that post-9/11 America has entered a repressive age. Through dozens of engrossing and disturbing individual stories, You Have No Rights makes clear that America is now a country that is both less safe and less free. From You Have No Rights: Near Albany, New York, Stephen Downs went to a mall with his son Roger, and the two of them boughtshirts in a T-shirt shop. Downs put his shirt on, went to eat in the food court—and was arrested. The T-shirt’s message? “Peace on Earth.” |

Were there bookstores/coffee places in 1988?
I need to know for something I am writing. Did bookstores that sold books as well as have a little coffee shop exist in 1988? I need to know if they would have been in New England (ie Vermont). Even if they weren’t popular were they around? I know they wouldn’t have served Lattes, but regular coffee. Or did the bookstores with the coffee come about after the latte was a hot item?
That is funny Raina! I didn’t know that Lattes had been around that long. But how about book stores with coffee places in the 80′s in Vermont?
Some did. I remember wanting to have my own bookstore/cafe back in the 1970s, when they were not common, but I didn’t think up the idea on my own, either. So yeah, they existed. I bet Burlington, VT had one.

I Would Like My Personal Mullet Back — Redneck Haircuts : 101
Wait get rid of, the actual questionable redneck, countryboy/cityboy haircut have been making a muted comeback. It really have not manufactured the well-known appearing it did in the 80′s and 1990′s with the versions. The company in-front, Social gathering in back, mullet new hair-do features versions through the years, coming from David Bowie, Billy Ray Cyrus for the Beastie Young boys. Billy Beam seemed to be the continent european singin’ mullet lord, he made the idea well known. Right now, Florencia Henderson may be the simply female which comes instantly to mind, that have the mullet, (you know mother through the Brady Lot), I not really know if that helps make the woman small business in the front, as well as social gathering at the spine even though, knowing why.
Whenever Huck Finn stated, “he had been confiding in addition to mullet headed” he or she was talking about battiness, such as the fish, not the hair style. Making sure that just isn’t to express that will mullet going and getting the mullet new hair-do are they identical, will it be???
This Mullet featuring versions for instance Skullet, (this means shaved scalp or perhaps without hair on the top and long sides and back), Frullet, (this means shaved returning and sides and also a long bit that will dangles as part of your deal with like the fresh hip-hop young children), Mo-Hullet, or even Mulhawk, (the industry Mohawk with a extended rear item) along with a Fullet or even Grullet, (which is the female model). Description of how the pry apart, wax, joblessness, and also multi-color this company component, allow it individuality as well as punk rock it. Although you will still find several diehards, you understand some I’m certain, that still have similar mullet cut they’d from the Nineteen-eighties and also 1990′s because they don’t realize how to develop it for you to something different, or maybe many people don’t attack the particular ponytail part.
This mullet’s source is primarily violet receiver collar, redneck so they might go to be effective and possess the more time ponytail down the top, when attire rule forbidden that, after that are available this weekend, you had been a great ole’ boy bash dog. It is often loved by region european, rock rockers, glaciers dance shoes and baseball participants not to mention, wrestlers. Properly, fortunately it is at this point additional appropriate to become non-acceptable than it what food was in days gone by. You may hobby a new mullet with hair into moncler online the couch, when you really are a difficult worker, as well as able to keep the item from obtaining found within the beef grinder at your workplace, (OHSE concept).
At this point, if you are a devoted redneck mullet supporter, they have got fairs. Website may be the Subsequent weekend associated with March inside Swansboro, Nc, and it also features martial arts disciplines, designs, tunes and up to be able to Fifty various ways in order to cook mullet, (the fish). That they broil, barbeque grill, fry, saut and also do everything in order to mullet. In Niceville, Texas within the 3rd weekend regarding March, they have a single known as the Boggy Bayou Mullet Festival that features martial arts styles, projects and new music, and various ways to make meals mullet, (this bass). The both are actually fairs for you to commemorate this fish, but many rednecks start using these festivals as a possible reason to demonstrate their particular loyalty for the mullet along with hobby their very own mullet hair style. Straightforward. Only factor is, if you’re mullet on course, could they be referring to the particular hairstyle, or maybe ignorance such as the bass?
Vermont Living and Relocation Guide
If you have ever visited the Green Mountain State it’s hard not to fall in love with its beautiful landscape, quaint New England villages, and independent spirit. From the quiet beauty of the Northeast Kingdom, to Burlington’s cosmopolitan fair, to the great skiing and snowboarding outlets located throughout the state, Vermont offers a little something for everyone. If you are considering moving to Vermont, your first step may be to search for available employment opportunities. Chittenden County, home to Burlington, South Burlington, Essex, Colchester, Williston, and Winooski, contains the highest population in the state with over 152,000 residents. IBM, Burton Snowboards, Bruegger’s Bagels, Chittenden Bank, Fletcher Allen Health Care, Lane Press, Seventh Generation, Vertek Corporation, and the University of Vermont are some of Chittenden County’s largest employers and may be good places to start when searching for available positions.
Some of Vermont’s other large employers include the various ski resorts such as Killington, Stowe, Mount Snow, and Sugarbush, as well as successful, established companies including AN Deringer (St Albans), Ben & Jerry’s (Waterbury), Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont (Montpelier), Cabot Creamery (Montpelier), Central Vermont Medical Center (Barre), Green Mountain Coffee (Waterbury), and Orvis mail order company headquartered in Manchester, VT. Some of these Vermont-based companies have been recognized by Forbes Magazine for their success or have nationally and/or internationally distributed products such as the Seventh Generation non-toxic household products or Ben & Jerry’s ice cream.
Different regions of the state of Vermont have different resources and different opportunities to offer. Located in the Northeast/New England area of the United States, Vermont borders Canada to the north, New York to the west, New Hampshire to the east, and Massachusetts to the south. The state can be regarded in five regions: Southern Vermont, Northern Vermont, Central Vermont, the Champlain Islands, and the Northeast Kingdom.
Southern Vermont is home to the well known ski resorts of Mount Snow, Stratton, and Mount Ascutney. These resorts and the inns and lodges that surround them feature miles of downhill skiing for all levels as well as snowboarding, cross country skiing, ice skating, hiking, snowshoeing, and warm weather activities such as kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and golfing.
Northern Vermont also features skiing and snowboarding at world class resorts such as Stowe, Sugarbush, and Smuggler’s Notch as well as some amazing hiking and cross country destinations. Northern Vermont offers both urban lifestyle and resources as well as more secluded country living. The city of Burlington and the surrounding areas of South Burlington, Essex, Williston, and Winooski offer more industry, continuing education, business, and arts resources while the more remote towns of Jericho, Cambridge, and Saint Albans offer plenty of open space, beautiful mountains, and farmland while only a short drive into the city.
Central Vermont is home to the state capital of Montpelier and also offers world class skiing at Killington resort as well as hiking, snowmobiling, kayaking and canoeing. Central Vermont is more easily accessible as a travel destination from the neighboring states of New York, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts compared to Northern Vermont, the Champlain Islands, and the Northeast Kingdom.
The Champlain Island are located north of Burlington on Lake Champlain and along the border with New York. The towns of South Hero, Grand Isle, North Hero, and Alburg call this area home and offer gorgeous waterfront views, dramatic coastlines, and accessibility to Lake Champlain. This is truly a unique area of Vermont and ideal for anyone desiring to live on or near the water.
The Northeast Kingdom of Vermont occupies the northeast corner of the state and offers a variety of attractions, cultural outlets, and outdoor adventure. Home to some of the best down downhill skiing (Jay Peak) and cross country skiing (Craftsbury Outdoor Center) in New England, beautiful lakes and rivers such as the Connecticut River and Crystal Lake, and some of the most untouched rural areas in the state, the Northeast Kingdom is a dream come true for those looking for an “outdoorsy” lifestyle.
