Don’t Be Afraid To Use Color And Fabric In Your Home
Do your rooms need some extra energy and spice? You and your visitors are offered no appeal by dull, bland rooms. Livening up and adding depth to a room can be done in many ways with fabric. Color, fabric and texture will help you create a beautiful, welcoming home. It’s a simple task and will turn your home from being dull to being appealing. The task is easy to perform and will transform your home from boring to beautiful. The tips in this article will help you to add richness and exciting bursts of color to your home.
When making your room look beautiful and appeal with fabrics and colors you must be sure to follow a few rules.
Where to Add Fabrics & Color
Rooms can really be brought to life with color. Throw pillows, window treatments and tapestries are the easiest way to add interest to your living room without spending too much money. Interesting patterns should be used for combining throw pillows. An example of this is the pleasing look that a solid color throw pillow combined with a large print and small print pillow can create. Throw pillows don’t need to only be put on the sofa. Toss a few over-sided pillows on the floor for extra seating.
The intricate patterns of tapestries are rich looking and have pleasing texture. One of the walls can have a tapestry that complements the rest of the room’s décor. The room’s focal point can be this tapestry.
The use of rich colorful fabrics will also add a burst of color. Using a simple fabric panel or valance can really help pull the room together. Try to add fabric to your lampshades and place runners on your coffee or end tables that will offer the room interesting patterns and color.
Creating the Right Mix of Pattern and Color
It is generally best to decorate the room with three colors. In most cases people will use 60% of a dominant color and the other 40% will be made up of two other colors. The room’s color will be balanced and a base color will result, allowing it to stand out and become the template for more color and pattern.
Start with the large scale pattern first when selecting patterns, just to make things easier. Your search for your solid and small scale patterns will be directed by your large scale choice. Years ago you would never mix floral, plaid and striped patterns. A combination of patters has now become all the rage! The interest and appeal of this cannot be matched.
If your large scale choice is a floral pattern, your solid color should be chosen from that pattern. The other small scale pattern should be dominated by your three color choices for the room. This small scale pattern will do well with plaid, geometric or striped patterns.
It’s good to remember that you only need three colors to create beautiful, fresh looking and coordinated rooms. Fabrics for your windows, throw pillows and other accents should be rich in texture. Finish balancing the room with colored ceramic pots filled with natural flower or greenery. You won’t have to put much effort into the room if you follow the solid, small print, large print rule; and you’ll create some beautiful rooms. When working with color and fabric, don’t fear mixing things up a bit.
