Bodum Chambord French Press Coffee Maker

Bodum Chambord French Press Coffee Maker

$50.75

The reason the French press coffeemaker has become one of the most popular coffeemakers in the world is pure and simple – taste. The materials are completely taste-free so nothing comes between your ground coffee beans. This is exactly the reason why coffee tasters use this method to determine the quality of coffee beans. The 3-part stainless steel plunger has a fine mesh filter, which allows for a premium extraction of your coffees aromatic oils and subtle flavors. A mesh filter allows this flavor to be delivered direct to your cup and not absorbed by a paper filter. Plus, no paper filter means no waste! The patented safety lid prevents the splashing of liquids while pressing. When Bodum took over a small clarinet factory in Normandy in 1982, it was not because of the fine orchestra clarinets they were producing but because of a relatively unknown coffee maker called the Chambord that they produced as well. Simplicity works best and is the reason why the Chambords design has not changed a bit from its original drawing. P Coffee Press 8 cup Red

P Coffee Press 8 cup Red

$29.99

Classic design French press consists of a narrow cylindrical glass jug, equipped with a lid and a stainless plunger, which fits tightly in the cylinder glass beaker and has a fine wire mesh acting as a filter. Coffee is brewed by placing the coffee and water together, leaving to brew for a few minutes, then depressing the plunger to trap the coffee grinds at the bottom of the glass jug. A French press requires coffee of a more coarse grind than that used for a drip brew coffee filter, such as produced by a burr mill grinder rather than the whirling blade variety, as a finer grind will seep through the press filter and into the coffee. Because the coffee grounds remain in direct contact with the brewing water and the grinds are filtered from the water via a mesh instead of a paper filter, coffee brewed with the French press captures more of the coffee’s flavor and essential oils, which would become trapped in a traditional drip brew machine’s paper filters. French pressed coffee is usually stronger and thicker and has more sediment than drip-brewed coffee.

What Are The Health Effects Of Drinking Coffee?

There are plenty of people who avoid drinking caffeinated coffee, believing it could lead to all sorts of negative health effects. The fact of the matter is that recent studies have shown that a moderate amount of coffee could actually benefit you by reducing your overall risk of some serious illnesses and diseases. Really most people who drink coffee do so because they want to stay awake, feel more energy and go longer without a nap. Consuming too much coffee can indeed have some negative effects on your health regardless of the fact that these studies seem to say otherwise. This article will describe some of the effects coffee can have on your health.

Roasted coffee contains methylpyridinium, a very powerful antioxidant. This particular antioxidant isn’t known to be present in large amounts within any other food type. In fact, it’s not even present within raw coffee beans. Rather, methylpyridinium is created as a result of the roasting process. In raw coffee it is referred to as trigonelline. Once brewed, the antioxidant methylpyridinium is created. In addition to regularly brewed coffee this can be found in instant and decaf coffee. Methylpyridinium can even protect the body from some forms of cancer. Research also proves that drinking an excessive amount of coffee increases the LDL or low-density lipoproteins in the human body. High cholesterol is often caused by high LDL levels, which then leads to cardiovascular disease. High cholesterol also leads to a greater likelihood of stroke, heart attack, or vascular disease. Researchers did find that coffee brewed using proper paper filters can reduce and even remove most of the harmful elements that increase cholesterol levels. Instead of becoming part of the average cup of coffee, harmful compounds like kahweol and cafestol, are bound to the paper filters during the brewing process. Because they do not filter out certain impurities, press pots and plunger filters are not as safe for brewing coffee as paper filters.

It’s been found that both caffeinated and decaffeinated coffee contain a mild laxative effect that can prevent constipation. Because of the laxative effect, it is said that drinking coffee can help to decrease the risk of getting colon cancer. But, people that are heavy coffee drinkers tend to have loose bowels. If this is the truth, then drinking coffee in moderation will change this.

In conclusion, drinking coffee in moderation might be much better for you. However, heavy coffee drinkers should be warned that there are also bad health effects that can come from drinking too much caffeine. Moderation is the secret to getting a healthy balance.
