what is the policy for putting a starbucks into a beaverton school district (oregon)?

or any other coffee shop

First, get permission from the District to operate a Food/Beverage establishement. Many disricts “outsource” thier food (or lunch programs) to private companies in order to save district monies.

In High schools, Automats and Dispensing machines have been in place for a long time. they too are owned by outside companies.

When I was a Kid (longggg time ago) they sold iced cookies from machines in the hallway….parents had a fit. PTA held executive meeting to address the Threat.

If you have a bug about commercialized food and beverage in school….do your history homework for a complete picture.

Everyone (including me) loves to take potshots at corporations. But it was a Mom&Pop fruitstand out front…never.

Fall And Winter – Effortless Home Decorating Tips

Once autumn shows up it’s time to give your home a facelift. And there’s absolutely no reason to recoil. You will not have a need to use too much. Quite the opposite, you will simply need a handful of accessories that you can locate in your home! Here are a few tricks that will help you to bring a new air to your home without spending so much money.

Get Rid Of The Disorder

Assemble and deposit all the summer items that are not useful anymore: the towels, the beach sheets, the sun umbrella, the bathing suits, and some other accessories that can’t be used from now on. Do a methodical job and discard all the things you will not need again. Moreover, you surely have the home brimming with all those summer magazines and different decorating objects that you don’t want. The new decorations are going to require space, so toss or pack away all those disused items.

Hang The Window Treatments

The heavy winter drapes that had been taken down for summer must be hung up again. They are going to produce a change as well as provide insulation against the cold.

Outdated Pieces of Furniture, Fresh Color

Redoing those jaded looking paint finishes might be done by yourself for a fraction of the cost. Purchase some specific paint for this wood, and let your imagination run wild. It is possible to paint freehand, or even use templates that you can buy or make, to brighten the furniture with floral motifs, geometric shapes as well as other designs. A splash of color can surely provide a new air in the room.

Change wherever the Furniture is Located In the House

Seeing with fresh eyes is all you need to do. Usually the center of the room is where you would probably expect to find the couch. What’s wrong with it being up against a wall, or even in front of a window? There’s quite a bit of freedom for swapping bedroom and dining room furniture – for example, the coffee table and some of the chairs could be in either room.

Change the Rugs In Your Bathroom

Don’t forget to give the bathroom a little fresh, new decor as well. Help to make the room feel cozy with comfortable carpets on the floor, and pick glowing, seasonal colors to add to the feeling. {Consider gold, yellow, and brown if you would like capture the experience of the season completely.}

Decorate the Home with the Help of Fruits and Leaves

In the kitchen area, or in the dining table, you can position a fruit bowl. Set a plethora of fresh fruit in it. Seasonal fruits are usually best suited, such as apples, pears and citrus.

Buy Pretty Plants and Flowers

The environment of the home needs to be rejuvenated with flowers and decorative plants. Decorate the rooms with simple vases filled with a wide range of colorful flowers of different lengths. In case you are the innovative type of person, you can also think about other unconventional combinations of flowers. It’s your home, your palace, and you want to enjoy living and socialising in it, immersed in an atmosphere that you’ve created.

Finally, a friend of mine called Pehnidijidk Uwndinojuyd learned a lot from the guide in here. You will too, if you really spend time to read through it and learn from it. You will be amazed how much you can learn from this article that will make your life better.

Portland’s funky Hawthorne neighborhood

Hawthorne is a classic neighborhood of Southeast Portland, bordered on the North by Laurelhurst and nestled in the western foothills of Mt. Tabor. The neighborhood is enlivened by Hawthorne Boulevard, a popular strip with countless restaurants, bars, new and vintage clothing stores, record shops, bike shops, markets and even Fred Meyer and Safeway supermarkets. The street is made for walking, with a majority of businesses close together in a span of about 15 blocks. The full length of businesses runs from 12th to 55th.

There is plenty of entertainment, including art galleries, Bagdad Theater, Powell’s Books, plenty of coffee shops, including Starbucks as well as many independent cafés. A great feature on Hawthorne Boulevard is The Bagdad Theater, a historic Portland building that has been restored and turned into a cinema and pub, where you can enjoy a movie for $3 while gorging on pizza and beer.
Nearby, on Belmont, is the Avalon Theater which features second-run movies and five cent arcade games, as well as Clinton Theater, which has been providing Portlanders with their Rocky Horror fix for over thirty years.

The neighborhood is young, and full of college students, as well as families with youngsters, laid-back professionals, and seasoned musicians and artists. The neighborhood has a friendly, bohemian character, just rough enough around the edges to appeal to teenagers and creative types, but tame enough to be safe and family-friendly.
Hawthorne’s location is central to other popular Southeast streets and neighborhoods, such as Belmont, which is only six blocks north, and Division, Clinton and 39th. Downtown Portland is easily accessible from Hawthorne by bus, car and bike by traveling straight down Hawthorne Boulevard and across the Hawthorne Bridge.

Housing in this area tends to be affordable, though home values have been on the rise here for a few years. With a mix of restored classic Portland houses and attractive new condos, the area maintains a diverse population. There are many Craftsman style homes painted in cheerful palates, as well as Victorians and bungalows. Well done homes on nice streets still command a premium for this close-in neighborhood.

There is a genuine sense of community as you travel through the residential sections of the Hawthorne neighborhood, and you are likely to see charming vegetable gardens in front yards, chalk drawings on the sidewalk, and bicycle sculptures on porches.

To get to the Hawthorne neighborhood from I-5, take exit 300B, stay left at the fork on the exit ramp, and head straight onto Belmont St. Continue on Belmont to 11th Ave, then turn right. Stay on 11th until you reach Hawthorne Blvd. Turn left and you’ll be heading up the main section on Hawthorne.
