These are the heart wrenching stories of adventure, danger, and the street singing ministry of Glenn Adkins and his dramatic efforts, driven by Christ’s love, in reaching out to lost humanity. While pastoring a church in Topanga, he and his family worked with, and sometimes housed at the church, some of the most spiritually and mentally destitute members of our society. Glenn Adkins has been married forty-seven years to Frances (Frankie) Adkins. They have four daughters and one son, all grown now. He did street ministry in Haight-Ashbury and Berkeley in 1968, started and ran a Christian Coffee House in Oxnard, CA, and pastored in Topanga Canyon, CA from 1972 to 1986. Brilliant photography with informative text guide you through the Hawaii experience. Designed in coffee table format, this series presents the best of the islands -scenery, sites, adventures, and natural history. Each volume has over 100 photographs by Hawaii’s premier photographer, Douglas Peebles. Here is the ideal way to prepare for or to remember your visit to the Islands.

Should I chose Big Island or Oahu?

I am moving to either Hilo, Hawaii or Honolulu, Oahu, and I really cant decide between the two since I’ve never been to either one. I want to learn to surf, go to local coffee shops, and be in a green area. A city would be nice, but I still want local things and maybe not too loud or busy. I’m worried that Honolulu is too bid of a city not enough local, but that I will get bored or island fever in Hilo. Any suggestions would really help. I would love to know what the cities are like.

Too me, Oahu by far, but then again it really depends if you like the slow life or not. Oahu has better hospitals, shopping, activities. Big Island is more country, quiet, green, laid back. The active volcano is on the Big Island so if you are allergic to VOG, then I wouldn’t live there. We get VOG too on Oahu from the tradewinds blowing it from the Big Island, but I couldn’t live over there. That’s just too much. If you live in Haleiwa, Kailua or Kaneohe side of Oahu, then maybe that’s where you’d like it since it’s more quiet and green, town but not really. Most of the jobs are in Honolulu though, but it is town. Lots of good places to eat and lots of things to do though in Honolulu. You can still come to Oahu and learn how to surf, plenty good beaches. What I recommend you do is take a trip to both first before you move. Why move and then hate it when you get here? Hilo and Honolulu are 2 very different places. The people are different too. Driving is farther when you live on the Big Island and need to go across the island. Though traffic can be rough on Oahu. You can visit http://www.imgoingtohawaii.com to see a list of activities, restaurants, shopping, and other fun stuff to do on Oahu.

Teeth Bleaching Tips – Everything You Have No Idea Of May Surprise You

Is it time for you to go to a colgate teeth whitening? Before you do that, you better read the following article first! If you are so worried about ugly your discolored teeth you have difficulty smiling, in addition to know what to think about all the teeth bleaching options ones you’ve heard, don’t surrender. With the help of a couple of teeth bleaching tips, it is possible to get rid of a lot of the misconceptions and choose if could possibly whitening procedure within your future.
The primary from the whitening tips is while tooth whitening is usually expensive, it does not ought to be. Considering that your 1998 survey indicated that 85% of people questioned believed an unappealing smile would make them less attractive to attractive potential partners, whitening teeth could possibly be cheap at twice the retail price.
Peroxide Is Safe
The second of the whitening teeth tips is that, in sprit of what you might have heard, the peroxide-based gels found in most commercial teeth whitening systems will not likely cause permanent destruction of either your teeth or your gums. It’s true that some home bleaching kits do cause gum irritation within the users, but the probable reason isn’t the peroxide gel; it does not take ill-fitting mouth piece into that your gel is injected. The tray can slide between the two because the wearer attempts to shift it with a comfortable position, thereby scraping the gums.
Your dentist, in the event you decide to have your teeth professionally whitened, will use a gel using a far stronger concentration of peroxide, but will place it to a mouth piece molded to fit your teeth perfectly.
The third in the teeth whitening tips is when you choose to do experience one of the rare uncomfortable side effects, like heightened tooth sensitivity, you can just halt the treatments for a few days before problem passes. In the event the sensitivity returns, follow your treatments by brushing with toothpaste especially generated for sensitive teeth; their irritated nerves will soon quiet down.
Professional Vs. At-Home Treatments
Another with the tooth whitening tips is the fact, in the long run, the results you receive from professional whitening won’t be too much more noticeable than others you’ll be able to achieve by performing whitening teeth at home, when you adhere to the manufacturer’s instruction. But the two other tooth whitening tips which accompany this blog: an expert laser whitening treatment gives you immediate results, which can last from two to 5 years. An at-home whitening system will often require daily treatments for between three and 4 weeks.
The other accompanying whitening tip is the fact no way of treatment will supply permanent results. The top you can reasonably expect from at-home treatments is around half a year. But they’re inexpensive enough you can do several years’ worth with the sum of money you’ll spend on one particular laser whitening session.
What things to Avoid
A final two tooth whitening tips [http://www.maketeethwhiter.com/Teeth_Whitening_Review/] will be the most important; avoid teeth staining substances like coffee, tea, tobacco, berries, or dark wine; and avid any home whitening teeth tips which suggest the utilization of lemon or orange juices and peels.
Citrus fruits like lemons and oranges have become best for us simply because contain so much of the antioxidant Vitamin C, but that same Vitamin C is additionally known as citric acid. Using home teeth whitening tips which recommend orange or freshly squeezed lemon juice, you’ll be bathing your teeth in citric acid, that can eventually weaken their calcium, making tooth decay or breakage more inclined.
These whitening tips are a few pointers ensure you are on towards you towards bright healthy simile you deserve!

The Bliss of Swimming With Turtles in Hawaii

Like most visitors, my first tour of Hawaii included all the must see attractions, like the north shore waves, Diamond Head and Pearl Harbor on Oahu; coffee plantations, and Waipio on the Big Island. I spent seven days the first time on a whirlwind of must see destinations.

The second visit was longer, slower and more relaxed. I fell in love with the Big Island on my first visit, so spent most of my time there the second visit. There were a lot more wonderful coffee plantations to tour, and a few more shops for tourists but much of “my island” had remained the same.

I headed to Punaluu right off, the black sand beach being one of my favorites. I was happy to find a large turtle on the sand, and as I got into the water I found that there were many more turtles around me. This was my first swim with the turtles. I remained calm as my Hawaiian friends had advised me that the turtles won’t hurt you, they are just curious. It was an amazing thing, to swim with these huge sea turtles. They are unbelievable graceful in the water.

The next day I continued around the island and stopped at my next destination, Pu’uhonua o Honaunau Heiau, a restored ancient village site. It’s not on the guide map, but as you go into this site via a long driveway, look to the right, you will find a small area with water access, the locals swim there. The snorkeling in this spot is really great so I jumped in.

Much to my delight I again came face to face with a giant sea turtle. It was looking at me, I was looking at it, just floating there suspended in the water. It came close enough to get a good look at me and started to swim away, and that is when I noticed there were three more turtles in the water around me. I was beginning to think I was really lucky, my local friends had told me it was not that common to run into the giant turtles, and here I was, seeing them where ever I went.

And indeed, I did see them where ever I went for the rest of my stay, it seemed every time I got in the water, turtles appeared. My next stop was the incredible snorkel park at Keauhou Bay. Then I returned to Oahu and the famous snorkel area , Hanauma Bay as well as the locals favorite, Ala Moana Park. Turtles at every stop! I finally bought one of those disposable underwater cameras and got some really nice photos of turtles checking me out. The turtles were the highlight of my second visit to Hawaii, I will never forget them.

Skywatchers get a rare treat: total lunar eclipse (orlandosentinel)

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) — Moon watchers in the western U.S., Hawaii, Australia and
a large part of Asia were treated Saturday to a rare celestial phenomenon: a
total lunar eclipse. For 51 minutes starting at 6:06 a.m. PST (1406 GMT), the
Earth’s shadow completely blocked the moon. In the western U.S., the moon took
on a reddish glow, as some indirect sunlight continued to reach it after
passing through the Earth’s atmosphere. Since the atmosphere scatters blue
light, only red light strikes the moon, giving it a crimson hue. The total
eclipse was visible throughout Australia, Indonesia, southeast Asia, China,
Japan, and a large swath of Russia east of the Ural Mountains. David Sayre,
who runs a public relations firm in Hawaii, said it had been cloudy and rainy
around his house on Oahu, but the weather cleared just in time for the
eclipse. He awoke, as he usually does, around 3 a.m. and remembered to step
outside the house in time to catch the eclipse about a half hour later. No one
else in the neighborhood was up. “Sure enough it was turning that orangy-red
color,” Sayre, 47, said. “I said, ‘Gosh I …
