My boyfriend and I (mid 20′s) are moving from Chicago to the SF bay area. We are interested in possibly moving to Marin, County – possibly Fairfax. I was wondering if anyone has any opinions on this area? Is it a good area for two mid 20′s – something’s to live? Our other option is Berkeley. We’re torn because we absolutely love nature, the beach, and being close (but not too close) to the city. I know Marin has all of that – but Berkeley has the cool hippie town, filled with cafes, coffee shops, stores, etc., that we both equally enjoy as well.

Money is also sort of an issue. We will be renting, and from what I’ve researched so far, Marin seems to be more affordable than Berkeley.

i dont know much about marin but i live near berkeley and just moved here 3 weeks ago from chicago area ( after 3 years there) and there are trails in the hills not far( which i am hiking with my friend and dog next weekend) and piedmont is super nice too. Rockridge is nice as well.Oakland is less expensive but it is kinda a poop hole and that happens to be where I live but I am not a picky person
