Christopher Columbus – Kabbalist
The American Library of Congress has one of four original copies of what is called the Columbus Codex. This document is the original agreement between Columbus and the Spanish crown prior to his leaving for America. Columbus signed the document with a Cabalistic monongram. Using symbols from Latin, Greek and Hebrew, the signature hides the names of Salvador Fernando Zarco and Cristobal Colon according to the author of Codex 632, Jose Rodrigues Dos Santos.
Salvador Fernando Zarco is taken to be the birth name of Columbus and the idea expressed by Dos Santos is that he was a Jew. True or not, Columbus spent a lot of effort learning the Kabbalah. Besides the Kabalistic signet, another sign indicating he was Jewish is his use of the initials for ‘B’Ezrat Ha Shem,’ or ‘with God’s help’ in letters to his son Diego. The argument for a Jewish Columbus seems to make sense but nothing is ever quite what it seems with this amazing man.
He does indeed display a strong knowledge of Jewish mysticism, including Jewish chronology but the symbolism he uses in the new world is strongly Christian, not only on the obvious level of place names, but at a deeper, esoteric level as well. He was deeply committed to what appears to be a personal cult of the Trinity for example,
The research of Manuel Rosa has established with some authority that the explorer was a member of a neo-Templar order called the Templar Order of Christ whose head was king John II of Portugal. A new discovery shows that Columbus, without a doubt, was acting for King John II of Portugal when he sailed to the Americas. His Christian esoteric bent is also brought to light in this new discovery.
In fact, Columbus may actually have considered himself above religions in the sense they are usually understood. True esotericism would bring this out in a man. He seems to have used religious symbolism to communicate as well as for spiritual progress.
What he was communicating and how is the subject of the discovery already mentioned. It involves the use of deception to achieve an unheard of level of certainty in the authenticity of the message conveyed by bypassing the forces in history that tend to distort the record in their own favor. This need to communicate the truth explains a lot about why there is so much mystery surrounding Columbus. A closer look at this man and his message is overdue. The time and effort would be well rewarded.
