River Walk: The Epic Story of San Antonio's River

River Walk: The Epic Story of San Antonio’s River

$36.95

River Walk untangles the story of the evolution of San Antonio’s River. It is a visual tour de force as well. Of the 230 illustrations, many in color, dozens are newly uncovered historical images never before published. Five million visitors each year make San Antonio’s River Walk one of the top travel destinations in Texas. Yet how the river was revived from the sluggish trickle of a century ago to become a world-renowned model for river development has remained a little-known story. Written in a concise and entertaining manner, and carefully documented, River Walk: The Epic Story of San Antonio’s River is an authoritative work that will be welcomed on both bookshelf and coffee table.

Texas Residents? Please, your opinion on this question?

I am hoping to open a coffee/tea house soon, with my darling sister. I am thinking that the Riverwalk San Antonio would be an amazing place, but I am not sure. It is either that or Someplace around the Humble/Kingwood area. (Huston) What is your feedback and opinion?
thank you all so far for your answers! Austin was on my list as well, we shall see, since this is going do double as an art gallery, i have been mulling around with the Austin side as well…

Riverwalk would make more money.

Uses for used coffee grounds?

We live in San Antonio, Texas and recently found out a place to get used coffee grounds. I didn’t realize how much they were going to give me and now I have about 100 lbs of them on my back porch. Where should I put them? We have a compost pile, about 70 sqft of vegetable gardens, lots of other landscaped gardens (about 400 sqft total), some rose bushes, a 4 year old monterrey oak tree, st augustine lawn. I don’t know if I can just kind of spread it out on the beds or if I should mix it in. I have easy access to get almost unlimited amounts of coffee grounds. Should i get more?
I don’t drink that much coffee – it is from a coffee shop that I found out saves its grounds for people to use and apparently they give it out in huge trash bags full because I have two of them.

Whoa on the lime. Consult the Texas Extension Service, I’m thinking your soils aren’t acid, so adding coffee grounds shouldn’t send your soil into the acidic levels requiring lime…….but ask the experts.

Yeah, you can put a lot of it in the compost, but you’ll need to balance with plenty of “brown” or “carbon” stuff…….like chopped straw and dried leaves.

You can also dig it into the ground directly. As you turn the soil over before winter, you can sprinkle the grounds over the soil and then bury it.

Identifying the Best Beer Cities in the US

Travel is one of the most popular summertime activities. Families, couples and singles travel across the country for vacations and relaxation. Most of the time, the destination is chosen for what it offers in the way of activities and amenities – proximity to the beach, golf courses, mountain views, theme parks and the like. However, a growing number of travelers are choosing their destination not on how nice the beach is or on how tall a rollercoaster might be, but on what it offers in the way of craft beer.

The incredible explosion in the world of craft beer has done an immense amount for the travel industry, and offers travelers a tremendous range of destinations where they can enjoy some of the nation’s most delectable craft brews. Of course, not all US cities are created equal and if you’re contemplating a beer-cation, then you’ll need to know what cities in the country have the most to offer you. Here’s a quick rundown of what you’ll find out there, from coast to coast.

Head Off to Portland

The city with the most options to offer beer lovers is Portland. In fact, there are almost 40 microbreweries operating in the city, giving you an immense number of options to explore. You’ll also find that Portland has the highest number of “all-natural” craft beers, which is fitting considering just how eco-conscious the city has become.

Time to Go Mile-High

It should come as no surprise at all that Denver ranks very high on the top beer cities in the United States. While it might not have quite as many microbreweries operating as Portland, Denver is definitely on its way to catching up. Besides that, you’ll find that this is an ideal destination for those who love the outdoors and want to enjoy some of the stunning area in addition to exploring their beer options.

Head to Coffee-Town

For the third best city in the nation for craft beers, it’s time to head back into the Pacific Northwest – to Seattle, to be specific. While the city is probably more famous for the Space Needle, its rain and the number of coffee shops it boasts, there are some excellent options for the confirmed craft beer lover here too. You can head downtown to the Pike Place Market where you can enjoy fresh, farm grown produce and even get your mitts on some local craft beer all in one place.

Heading Back East

For those who prefer a destination that’s not all the way across the nation (or those favoring an East Coast trip this summer), then Providence, Rhode Island, is a great place to head. While you will find a great selection of microbrews in the city, you will also find some great eateries that serve local craft beers, and even a downtown brewery that sells growlers that you can take home with you (over at Trinity Brewhouse).

A Quiet Place for a Great Beer

If you are looking for a place that serves great craft beer but isn’t necessarily a ‘party town’ or a place that has a rollicking nightlife, then you should head up to another Portland – Portland, Maine. It’s a quiet, relaxing place that offers a significant range of excellent craft beers, local breweries and watering holes where you can enjoy a good beer without having to worry about the partying crowd. Portland, ME, is also well known for the number of older, established microbreweries.

Moving Down South

The South has a lot of things going for it, including a good number of microbrews. You’ll need to head down to Georgia – Savannah to be specific. Along with its famous riverfront, its historic buildings and incredible dining options, you will also find that Savannah is a haven for beer lovers. You will even find a retailer in town that offers more than 500 different varieties of craft beer from different brewers around the world. Make sure you take the time to stroll the streets here and take in the history though. It’s all part and parcel of a trip to this jewel of the South.

The Home of Sam Adams

When it comes to beer cities in the US, few are as recognizable as Boston. The home of Samuel Adams is also home to quite a few other microbreweries, brewpubs, brewhouses and other options ripe for exploring. Of course, there’s lots of other things to do in Beantown, with plenty of history to explore, as well as nightlife and much more. Some of the best cultural attractions in town include the city’s wide range of museums and art galleries.

The Lone Star State

Texas does things big – it’s just the way things are. Like everything else in Texas, the craft brew scene is huge. You’ll find that while Dallas and San Antonio certainly have their attractions, Austin is the best place to go to enjoy some excellent craft beer on a Texan vacation. You will also find that Austin is an incredible place for those who love live music, as well as those who enjoy finding unique, one-of-a-kind watering holes to enjoy during their stay.

The City by the Bay

San Francisco is well known for a great many things, including the Golden Gate Bridge, Alcatraz and for being one of the best spots for dining in the world. However, the City by the Bay has also earned a reputation for being extremely craft beer-friendly. For those adventuring out to San Francisco, you’ll find some of the most unique craft beer packaging, a very wide variety of eco-friendly microbreweries and some of the best beers in the country. The fact that you can find most of those craft beers in many of the city’s most popular dining establishments is also a plus.

The list of cities above is only the tip of the iceberg as far as great American craft beer cities. In fact, if you explore a little bit you might actually find something just as good a bit closer to home.

How And Where Do I Find The Best Coffee Machine?

So you are up against the responsibility of getting a new coffeemaker and thus far all you have succeeded in doing is stressing yourself out to a point in which you require help with the job. Well, I am able to provide you with that assistance. During my past, I too have gone through the task of getting a new coffeemaker and by making use of my past experiences I will assist you in making the best judgements like I have done.

Purchasing a coffeemaker is hard because of the diversity around. Numerous brands and versions on offer make the job time-consuming and discouraging. If you don’t have the time to sit down and dig through a large pile of coffeemaker reviews, then you’ve arrived at the best place because I have read product reviews, and definately will continue to do so for your benefit!

There are some things you need to contemplate when selecting your coffeemaker. Essentially the most key elements to take into consideration is what drinks do you actually intend to make with your device. Actually, i know of people that have paid out their funds on a
coffeemaker only to make an espresso and get poor outcomes. If you want to make an espresso, I recommend a espresso device for the best tasting results.

Coffee Machines can be found in a few different types. Manual, semi-automatic and super automatic. Of course, all 3 have their own benefits and disadvantages, all of which will play a significant part in helping you purchase a coffeemaker. Manual coffee makers are self-explanatory, the whole procedure is down to the operator. Manual can produce the perfect tasting coffee or espresso, however the procedure is often rather time intensive (especially when you are a novice to it) and can also create a lot of cleaning up.

In a huge contrast, super automatics are super convenient. As the title implies, these coffee makers do everything automatically. All the user needs to do is set up the unit’s settings and your away. As expected, a super automatic will almost certainly cost greater expense, but for those people crying out for a convenient coffeemaker (in time and washing) a super automatic seems to be a perfect purchase.

Super automatic makers do on the other hand come with a reputation for developing a lot of flaws, costing plenty of cash and producing mediocre tasting coffee (as earlier pointed out, for the espresso it’s better to have a look at genuine espresso machines). If perhaps excellent flavour does not matter to you that much, yet ease really does, then a super automatic coffeemaker could be a highly valued purchase.

So what about semi-automatic? As it’s title implies, this a coffeemaker which is both automated and manual at the same time. Semi-automatic are considered to be the best coffee makers for the household. This is because they do not cost nearly as much as a super automatic, they produce above average standard of coffee and additionally are still simple (not much maintenance essential and not very time-consuming). One of the big features of a semi-auto is the fact that user can get involved with the coffee making process so that it can be made to the individuals taste.

Ideally this info has settled some of the challenges you might have encountered when choosing your new best coffee machine. If you’d like to discover more about how to decide on the best coffeemaker and see recommended products and assessments then take a visit to http://www.bestcoffeemachinesite.co.uk
