Guarana History

The use of Guarana is said to have been discovered by an Amazonian tribe and to have a tradition dating back thousands of years. Ingredients of Guarana

Guarana is the strongest of all caffeine drugs. It is some three times stronger than coffee and eight times as potent as Yerba mate.

The seeds contain approximately 5% caffeine, 3% fatty oil, 9% tannic acid, 8% resin, 10% starch, 50% fiber, minerals (potassium, sodium, magnesium, calcium), some protein, sugar, and water.

The leaves contain 0,30% caffeine and up to 1,2% theobromine. All the other parts of the plant also contain traces of caffeine and other purines.

The active ingredients and concentrations change as the seeds are made into the paste. The paste contains 3,6 to 5,8% caffeine, 0,03 to 0,17% theobromine, 0,02 to 0,06% theophylline, up to 12% tanning agents, saponins, seed fat, minerals, and water.
