What time is it and what is the weather like where you are now and what are you doing?
For me in Sydney Australia it’s 12.39pm Saturday afternoon ,it’s early Autumn ,the sun is shining and it’s 25 degrees Celsius a nice change from the 40 degrees day we had a month ago.
Oh and I am sitting on my front verandah having a coffee reading magazines ,it doesn’t get much better.
Its Friday evening 6:24 Pacific Time here in San Rafael, California (near San Francisco). Sun just set. Its late winter but feeling like spring. The hills are all green and some of the the fruit trees are flowering. We had a rainy February, and now its sunny and high of 60 degrees Farenhiet (15.5 C). I’m just putting a frozen pizza in for dinner. Here’s a useful link to a converter.

Practical Advice About Depression
Depression Help and Advice - The key to depression is expression
We all get a little depressed from time to time and once the depression spiral begins, it can be very hard to get out of.
Our mental health is compromised by over thinking – either we become too stuck in the past where we ruminate about past experiences or we are thinking too far ahead and becoming paralysed with a sense of fear and uncertainty.
A person caught in the spiral of depression often feels stuck, held back, repressed or suppressed and finds it very difficult to communicate their feelings and emotions which leads to the feeling of imprisonment.
The key to overcoming depression is expression.
‘Emotion’ means the outward movement of feelings and any block in the natural flow of outward movement causes a person to introvert, lock away feeling and shut down, culminating in depression.
Many factors influence the development of emotional intelligence and our perception of expression can suffer as a result. For example, a person who has been conditioned with the belief that the expression of their feelings is a sign of weakness will have psychological and emotional barriers that inhibit their ability to openly express and talk about their feelings. How many men out there were taught as kids that only girls cry? How many times were they told to toughen up son and get on with it..
Another influencing factor that creates a negative perception of expression is from our experiences with other people’s expression.
Everyone has experienced a person or has one in their life right now that constantly ‘whinges and whines’ or ‘dumps’ rather than expresses. These people leave us feeling so worn out, drained and low ourselves that we create an aversion to expression because we don’t want to be like them.Rather than learning to express in a light hearted and positive way, we simply shut the door on expression completely.
But it’s never too late to learn the tools to help us unlock this door and into the room of mastery of our own expression.
Restoring the Flow
Expression is anything that moves from ‘inside’ you to ‘outside’ you and has many forms.
Writing, talking, sharing with friends, playing sport, all forms of art, dancing, singing, making music, cooking.
How do you best express yourself and when did you last do it?
One of the easiest ways help you restore the flow of your expression is by keeping a journal and writing down each day how you feel.
Here are some quick checks to keep in mind generally but especially in times when you are feeling the onset of depression:
1. Life Balance – the key words to remember. Check the Major Life Areas list below and do a little of everything each day.
2. Push yourself to eat well and not weaken to eating junk and fast foods. You are what you eat and your body will love you for loving it!.
3. Get some exercise and spend some time in nature – walk away the blues
4.Spring clean the closets of your mind!. Tidy up, get rid of anything you don’t need or use and spring clean the house as you go.
5.While routine is grounding, it is important to try something new each day.. Your mind grows and breaks habits when it is learning something new. Do a crossword. Try a new food. Go a different way on your morning walk. Go and have a coffee on your own. Go to the movies. Plant a veggie garden..
6.Make a choice. Be decisive.. Even if you go through magazines and make decisions and choices on each page like, awesome dress/horrible dress, yum/yuck food etc.Score them! Scoring helps set priorities so give each one a score out of 10. The rule is though that you have to find something you like!
Using Combination Codes – Major Life Areas
It’s important that you have perception that depression is just like having the happy, positive and vibrant part of yourself locked in an inner room.Bring awareness to the fact that your combination codes inside of you will open that door.
The combination codes are the Major Life Areas that you are specifically repressing and have negative emotional triggers to.
For example, you may be happy with your income and have enough money to live a happy and healthy life, but you may be lacking love or romance in your life. You might have heaps of people in your life who love you very much, but your depression is caused by your inability to receive or let their love in.. Maybe this is because something happened in the past that you just can’t get over or out of your mind.
The Major Life Areas that are at the core of depression are listed below and it is important to be able to identify where you are in and out of balance.
The first step is to review the list and write out on a piece of paper how you feel about each area. Take notes about any thoughts, fears, doubts or memories that you may have around each one.
After you have listed what comes up for you now in each area, you need to write down how you would like to feel about each one. Use your inner will and determination and ‘dare to dream’ of all the positive future outcomes for each area.
Use and follow your intuition as you go through the MLA’s to see which ones stand out. Write down the first thing that comes to mind and record any thoughts or flashes of memories that come to you as you write. Note them down even if they don’t make much sense at first..
Major Life Areas
- Home, House, Possessions
- Diet, Cooking, Nutrition, Eating Habits
- Appearance, Weight, Identity, Image
- Financial Situation
- Religion or Spirituality, Community, Clubs and Groups
- Interests, Hobbies, Holidays
- Work, Career, Purpose
- Family
- Friends
- Children, Parenting
- Fitness, Exercise, Sport
- Education, Continued Learning
- Relationships
- Sex, Intimacy, Fondness
- Health and Wellbeing (sickness, injury, illness etc)
Remember that gaining awareness of and working on the specific areas that are at the core of your depression is the key to achieving sustainable depression relief.
Many times people cannot overcome depression because they have locked away the root memories, triggers and events into the forgotten past and they need a tool to bring conscious awareness to them to enable their release.
Kinesiology is a great tool to help pinpoint and understand emotions that need to be released and has been used successfully for 15 years by Peter O’Neill to help his clients overcome depression.Consults are available in person or via Skype.

3 Examples Of How Coffee Drinking Can Affect Your Health
There are of course many people who swear not to touch coffee because of the negative health effects they believe it can have on them. Yet recent research has shown that a moderate amount of coffee could be the key to helping reduce the risk of some serious illnesses and diseases. Of course, there are people who happily drink plenty of coffee in an attempt to stay more alert, feel more energized and keep them going for longer. Although this research shows some great health benefits there are still some negative affects that coffee can cause if you drink too much. We will talk about a few of the potential health effects coffee can have in this article.
A powerful antioxidant, methylpyridinium, is contained in roasted coffee. This particular antioxidant isn’t known to be present in large amounts within any other food type. Oddly enough it can’t be found in raw coffee beans. Methylpyridinium is created by the roasting process. In raw coffee it is referred to as trigonelline. When coffee beans are roasted, the trigonelline forms the strong antioxidant methylpyridinium. You can find this in all types of coffee, including decaffeinated coffee and even in instant coffee. Methylpyridinium can even protect the body from some forms of cancer.
Other studies have linked drinking coffee to lower risks of being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes. Some studies show that the risk reduction is as much as 50% for people who drink 2 cups of coffee daily. It’s believed that the caffeine in coffee causes a decrease in sensitivity to insulin.
At the other end of the spectrum, some people develop low blood sugar or hypoglycemia as a result. Hypoglycemic symptoms are not at all pleasant and may include clammy skin, weakness, heart palpitations, and sweating. If you have hypoglycemia, you would be best served by abstaining from coffee completely. There are of course a variety of other diverse styles of coffee maker machines for everyday and gourmet coffee to choose from like single cup coffee makers and also espresso coffee makers and a lot more.
In women patients who drink coffee, studies have shown that drinking too much coffee can lead to iron deficiency and anemia. Too much coffee prevents the body from effectively absorbing iron. The body needs to maintain certain iron levels for many different reasons. Not only does iron help to carry oxygen to the body and the lungs, but it’s also an integral part of many enzyme reactions. Iron helps control infections within the body. People suffering from iron deficiencies can have a very negative effect on these important functions. Continuing to experience low iron over a prolonged period of time can lead to either anemia or constant fatigue.
In conclusion, drinking coffee in moderation may be beneficial to your health. But, those people that are into drinking a lot of coffee should take note that there are bad health effects that could rise out of taking in too much caffeine. Moderation is the key to achieving a healthy balance.
