I currently live in Lancaster, PA but I am looking to move to one of the “small towns” around Lancaster County

I am semi-new (I’ve only been here since last May) and haven’t done much exploring since I’ve been here. Basically I am looking for more of the “small town” feel but with shops/restaurants/etc. within walking distance. I like what I’ve seen in Strasburg (i.e. video store, pizza place, coffee shop, etc..) but I wondered if anyone lives there (or another town nearby) and can give me some hints as to what it’s really like. I am 24 and have a 4 year old son so I am really looking for things that’ll keep us both happy (of course, living near the trains would thrill him beyond belief). I have also heard good things about Elizabethtown. Anyone know about either town or other towns in the area? Thanks for any help you can give!

Strasburg is nice yes, but I think during the summer months it’s way too busy with tourists. This really is an inconvenience when you want to get somewhere fast.

Millersville is a nice area.
Willow Street is also nice unless you get too far south, then you’re in the middle of nowhere.
Mountville is also nice and still relatively quiet and safe but is experiencing a housing boom (just like anywhere in Lancaster county)

Good luck. I would definately stay away from Lancaster city.
