The 6th annual World Naked Gardening Day will be taking place at the GoNudeCostaRica hotel in San Jose, Costa Rica, on Saturday, May 14, 2011. World Naked Gardening Day is not restricted to one location, rather in truth, it’s a lifestyle that can be practiced anywhere, at anytime. However, the GoNudeCostaRica hotel is perfectly suited for the event with over six acres of estate, numerous gardens and the lush environs that Costa Rica is famous for.
In a sense gardening is a natural connection with the earth through the soil and breeze. Gardening in the nude takes this connection the next logical step forward, through appreciation of these sensations in a natural setting. It’s thought to be liberating, as a means of feeling closer to nature than in any other way.
Apparently the event was conceived of by an organic gardener along with an editor of a naturist magazine, and every year there has been more and more interest in the date. The term “naturist” suggests a philosophy viewed as an integral part of the participants’ lives. On the other hand, there are those that simply feel that wearing no clothes makes more sense than wearing them, and of course, saving on the clothing budget.
